Know what you are measuring

RF, low-frequency electric fields and low-frequency magnetic fields are different. Many consumer meters measure one or more of these, but not equally well.

Establish a baseline

Measure the same location several times under the same conditions. Note active devices, time of day and distance from sources.

Change one thing

Move the router, turn off one transmitter or add one shielding element, then repeat the measurement. This makes cause and effect easier to interpret.

Avoid false precision

Consumer meters have bandwidth limits, calibration limits and directional behavior. Use them to detect large practical differences rather than treating every digit as laboratory-grade truth.

Harmonizer caveat

If a product says it does not reduce field strength, an unchanged RF reading does not test the product’s separate claim. That separate claim needs its own valid measurement method.
